Weymouth Angling Society

First established in 1900 Weymouth Angling Society opened it’s new clubhouse alongside Weymouth’s inner harbour in 1974. The surrounding waters are internationally recognised for offering a wide range of fishing experiences for everyone.

Regular competitions are organized by the club for members and non members alike. Competitions for Boat or Shore have sections for Senior, Junior and Lady anglers so all the family can fish the same comp. We also run separate Junior, Lady, Boat and Shore Leagues and Team Leagues.

Society club members currently hold 5 British records including a Junior record and one World record.

The very popular annual Summer Angling Festival has been organised by the club in conjunction with Weymouth & Portland Borough Council since it inception in the early 1900’s current details available from the club.

The society has always fostered links within the community and uses it’s disabled friendly facilities, to assist many other local groups who may otherwise not be able to have a regular meeting place. These associate member groups include:  The Westham Seniors group, The Co-Op Women's Guild, The Alzheimer’s Association, The Weymouth & Portland British Sub Aqua Club WPBSA. Dorchester & District Angling Society DDAC, Weight Watchers,, Dorset Hand Liners, Dorset Carer’s, The Licensed boat owners & Fishermen’s Association (FPLBFA), The Multiple Sclerosis Society, the RAOB darts teams and Darts Super league teams.

Our disabled friendly facilities are available to hire for day time or evening functions please contact the bar manager at the HQ or by email. We have a well stocked bar and catering facilities, which recently gained a W&PB food hygiene Silver award.

Society membership is open to all we have a particularly active junior section, application forms and further details are available at the club H.Q. or via the Membership page. Sea Angling is a sport for all abilities and ages & the society actively supports its sustainability.
